SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
TSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
May 20, 2023

  1. Recognized Dr. Henry L. Bethea with a standing ovation for his 47 years of practice and his tremendous contributions to the TSA.
  2. Accepted Dr. Bethea recommendation of Dr. Allison F. Wells to fill the vacancy of Director for District 6.
  3. Recognized with applause Dr. G. Ray Callas the newly elected President-Elect of the Texas Medical Association.
  4. Requested that date options for the 2024 Anesthesiologists Days at the Capitol be selected and sent to the Board of Directors for consideration and approval.
  5. Requested that the virtual communications budget line be increased by $10,000 to cover the additional fees incurred during session. A request for approval will be sent to the Board with a deadline to respond by Friday, May 26th.
  6. Announced that Dr. Patrick Y. Giam is running for 1st Vice President of the ASA.
  7. Charged the Practice Management Committee and key members of the Governmental Affairs and Economics Committees to work together to develop a TSA Scope Toolkit.
  8. Requested that the chairs of the Bylaws Committee and Resident Component review the TSA and TSARC Bylaws to determine the structure of the TSARC and if applicable present a proposal to establish a Medical Student Component to the TSA House of Delegates in September.
  9. Approved the minutes of the Board of Directors February 26, 2023 meeting.
  10. Certified the elections results for the 2023 TSA House of Delegates.
  11. Approved via email the appointment of Dr. Allison F. Wells as the TSA Director for District 6.
  12. Approved via email the request to increase the virtual communications budget line by $10,000.
