TSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
September 10, 2023
- Approved the minutes of the May 20, 2023, TSA Board of Directors Meeting as written.
- Approved funding up to $500.00 for the 2024 Project Lead the Way Kick-Off Event to be held at a Houston high school.
- Approved a motion that an ad-hoc committee be appointed to create a plan for a TSA annual meeting oversight committee (TAMOC) in conjunction with Ms. Bacak to include all bases she routinely covers and that the TSARC chair and vice-chair be on the committee and that a report be submitted to the Board by January.
- Recognized Dr. Elizabeth Rebello for her involvement on the ASA AMOC.
- Charged the Bylaws Committee with creating Bylaws for the Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management (RAAPM) standing committee.
- Recognized with applause the Ad-hoc Committee on RAAPM for its efforts.
- Charged all ad-hoc committees with submitting a report to the Board in January.
- Welcomed Dr. Diane Havalda as the newly elected director for district 4.
- Recognized Dr. Stacey Allen for her service as the director for district 4 from 2017-2023.
- Approved a motion to develop a mechanism to ascertain current email addresses for all members of the House.Approved the appointment of Stephen A. Sarmiento, MD as the Interim Director for District 10, effective at the conclusion of this board meeting.
- Recognized Dr. Mark Margolis with applause for his service to the TSA. Dr. Margolis served as director of District 10 from 2019-2023.
- Approved the following recommendations from the Administrative Affairs Committee:
- • A TSA Family Medical Leave Policy,
• A TSA IT Policy, and
• The transfer of TSA banking needs from Wells Fargo Bank to Truist Bank.
- Applauded Dr. Zach Jones and Dr. Anna Allred for their service on the Governmental Affairs Committee.
- Approved Sunday, February 25-Tuesday, February 27, 2024, as the dates for the next Board of Directors meeting, the 2024 TSA Anesthesiologists Days at the Capitol and CPR/Stop the Bleed Training. The Board of Directors will meet on the morning of Sunday, February 25th, followed by Anesthesiologists Day lectures in the afternoon, legislative visits will take place on Monday, February 26th and CPR/Stop the Bleed Training will be scheduled for Tuesday, February 27th.
- Informed the Board members that Dr. Srikanth Sridhar, the new chair of the TSA Patient Safety and Medical Quality Committee also serves as the Assistant Vice-President for Patient Safety and Quality at UT Houston.
- Announced that the Practice Management Sub-committee on IDR has a few samples of physician statements that may be helpful to members going through the IDR process.
- Approved motion to ask the TSA President to work with the ASA to immediately rectify those who are ASA members from Texas who are not TSA members.
- Approved motion that the immediate past president and current president develop an electronic version of the operations manual that includes the administrative, governmental, and executive functions of the Society.
