As he steps up to receive the highest honor bestowed by America’s largest state medical society, anesthesiologist Joseph P. Annis, MD, of Austin, says his accomplishments in medicine can be traced back to the loving support and encouragement of his closest family and friends.

He says their influence gave him the maturity and wisdom to travel the pathway to success.

That pathway leads Dr. Annis to the 2016 Texas Medical Association (TMA) Distinguished Service Award. “Medicine is not just what I do, it is who I am,” said Dr. Annis. “I know, clearly, I am but a small part of what this award signifies … because I had so much help along the way.”
