SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
TSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MAY 4, 2014

  1. Announced that the TSA Executive Committee has appointed Dr. Crystal C. Wright to the office of TSA Vice- Speaker of the House.
  2. Informed the Board that Dr. Jacky Ralston has resigned his position as an ASA Delegate.
  3. Appointed Dr. Evan G. Pivalizza to the office of ASA Delegate in Place 21.
  4. Increased the budget line for contract labor to $13,000 to cover the cost of temporary assistance.
  5. Informed the Board that the TSA has provided CPR Anytime training to almost 500 people in 5 years.
  6. Approved motion to host the 2015 CPR Training Day on March 31st.
  7. Approved the following Board Appointments:• Dr. Evan G. Pivalizza as the TSA Delegate to the TMA Interspecialty Society;
    • Dr. Charles E. Cowles as the Alternate Delegate to the TMA Interspecialty Society;
    • Dr. Christopher R. Cook as the TSA Editor for a term of 3 years; and
    • Drs. Carlos Nicholas Lee and Catherine L. Scholl as TSA representatives to the TMA Coalition for Patient Safety.
  8. Approved motion to alert TSA members, via a blast email message, of a current fraud scam that involves the theft of physicians’ DEA numbers. Charged Dr. Pivalizza with drafting the message.
  9. Approved the following House of Delegates appointments:• Dr. Steven R. Burgard as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 4;
    • Dr. Ryan P. Casey as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 5;
    • Dr. Kyle W. White as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 8;
    • Dr. Gary W. Latson as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 9;
    • Dr. Jeffrey N. Higginbotham as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 10;
    • Dr. Yutaka Wajima as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 11;
    • Dr. Royce D. Hayes as an Alternate Delegate to District 3, Place 12;
    • Dr. Christopher A. Bracken as a Delegate to District 4, Place 5;
    • Dr. Allan A. Conde as an Alternate Delegate in District 6, Place 3;
    • Dr. Roger N. Rankin as an Alternate Delegate in District 6, Place 7;
    • Dr. Alan C. Farrow-Gillespie as a Delegate in District 9, Place 3;
    • Dr. Larry B. Scott as an Alternate Delegate in District 9, Place 3;
    • Dr. Omeed Khodaparast as a Delegate to District 10, Place 10; and
    • Dr. Patrick O. Ogbue as an Alternate Delegate to District 10, Place 10.
  10. Informed the Board that the Texas Department of Insurance has been asked to remove the anesthesia rate information from its website until accurate data is obtained.
  11. Approved motion to offer 2014 Annual Meeting registration waivers to the TSAPAC at a 20% discount.
  12. Charged Dr. David Gloyna with revising the proposed guidelines for non-members’ attendance at the TSA House of Delegates and Reference Committees; and with reporting back to the Board via email.
  13. Charged Bonnie Bruce and Dr. Christopher Cook to fully evaluate the possibility of the TSA having a Twitter account; and with providing an update by the September TSA Board meeting.
  14. Announced the deadline for nominee submission for the TMA Leadership College is July 2nd.
  15. Approved as written the minutes of the Board of Directors January 26, 2014 meeting.
  16. Approved membership renewal in the Coalition for Patient Safety for 2015 at a monthly rate of $500.
  17. Approved revisions to the TSA Fiscal Management Policy.
  18. Approved revisions to the TSA Investment Policy Statement.
  19. Certified the results of the 2014 TSA House of Delegates Elections.
