411-3 Professional Affairs: Quality Management and Departmental Administration; Proposal for Deep Sedation Education Program; this report detailed the program requested by the HOD at the 2012 Annual Meeting. The Board approved an expenditure of $220,000 for the funding of this educational product to assist ASA members in privileging and training of deep sedation for non-anesthesiologists.

522-2 Scientific Affairs: Committee on Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia: Interim Report; A majority of the Board testified against and voted down the recommendation of the committee to support the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists application for subspecialty certification in “cardiovascular/cardiothoracic anesthesiology”.

546-2 Scientific Affairs: Committee on Annual Meeting Oversight: 2025 Annual Meeting Location; contained within this report was a recommendation for the 2025 Annual Meeting to be held in San Antonio, Texas!

Dr. Zerwas adjourned the ASA Interim Board Meeting at 8:40 a.m.

* On March 4th, Mr. Paul Pomerantz, ASA CEO announced as his first public action that Mr. Manuel Bonilla would assume the role of Chief Advocacy Officer of the ASA effective immediately. Manny is extremely deserving of this promotion and a longtime friend of the TSA.
