Summary of Actions
Board of Directors

April-June 2012

  1. Appointed an Ad-Hoc Committee to review a request from the ASA requesting financial support for the 2012 ASA President and President-Elect Reception. Members of the Ad-Hoc Committee are Drs. David W. Mercier, Chair, David F. Gloyna and Mary Dale Peterson.
  2. Charged Dr. Jeffrey M. Jekot with obtaining dues structure information and actual 2013 membership dues amount for the Coalition for Patient Safety.
  3. Informed Board members that the Secretary of State, Hope Andrade has been invited to present the 2012 Betty P. Stephenson Lectureship.
  4. Charged Drs. Catherine L. Scholl and G. Ray Callas with developing a white paper that explains the process for appointments to various levels of councils, committees within medical societies, governmental levels and community groups for review by the TSA Board in September 2012. The Paper will cover all levels of society.
  5. Encouraged participation in the Art Exhibit to be held at the 2012 TSA Annual Meeting.
  6. Approved a request from the Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Management for assistance in planning their annual meeting. Chris Bacak will visit the meeting this year prior to the ASA Annual and determine if she is able to assist them. Her assistance will be provided on her own personal time and will not affect the TSA.
  7. Encourage members to contact their pharmaceutical representatives and invite them to exhibit at the 2012 TSA Annual Meeting.
  8. Approved the January 22, 2012 TSA Board of Directors Minutes as written.
  9. Approved Dr. David E. Bryant’s recommendation that the TSA wait at least two years before proceeding with another Commercial Payer Survey.
  10. Certified election results for the 2012 TSA House of Delegates.
  11. Appointed members to the TSA House of Delegates as follows:
    • L. George Fox, MD, District 2, Delegate, Place 4;
    • Shailesh Mori, MD, District 2, Delegate, Place 6;
    • George W. Williams, MD, District 7, Delegate, Place 10;
    • Angela T. Truong, MD, District 7, Alternate Delegate, Place 10;
    • Emad B. Mossad, MD, District 7, Alternate Delegate, Place 7;
    • Robert J. Kavanagh, Jr., MD, District 7, Alternate Delegate, Place 3;
    • Andy R. Hollenshead, MD, District 10, Delegate, Place 9; and
    • Peter S. Baek, MD, District 10, Alternate Delegate, Place 9.
  12. Approved proposed changes to Item 15 of the TSA Fiscal Management Policy.
  13. Approved to continue hosting a TSA Practice Management Conference.
  14. Approved revisions to Resolution 704 which was presented to the 2011 TSA House of Delegates. The Resolution will be resubmitted to the 2012 House.
  15. Approved request to continue providing registration fee waivers to the TSAPAC at a 20% discount.
  16. Approved request from the ASA to subsidize the ASA 2012 President and President-Elect Reception. The TSA will provide up to $40,000 to the ASA for the reception.
  17. Approved proposed revisions to the TSA Bylaws, Section 9.208 Committee on Governmental Affairs. The proposed revisions will be published in the July TSA Bulletin and presented to the TSA 2012 House of Delegates for final approval.
  18. Approved Coalition for Patient Safety membership renewal for the calendar year 2013 in the amount of $1000 per month.
