336-2 Committee on Bylaws: Annual Report. This large report engendered extensive debate at the Reference Committee due to concerns of the members that many powers of the House of Delegates were being devolved to the Board of Directors, but ultimately it passed at the House.
645-2 Texas Society of Anesthesiologists: Resolution No. 1 – Corporate Practice of Medicine. This complex Resolution out of the Texas House of Delegates was referred to a committee of the President’s choice.
Professional Affairs
408-2 Committee on Performance and Outcomes Measurement: Annual Report. The Committee with input from the Committee on Pediatric Anesthesia created a “performance measure” for preemptive multimodal therapy for PONV in children; this passed as amended by the Chair.

An amendment by the Chair to create a “working task force”, composed of members from the AQI, CPOM, QMDA and “other relevant committees” to craft “developmental benchmarks or test measures” that could be used by our members or practices at a local level, was defeated.

411-2 Committee on Quality Management and Departmental Administration (QMDA): Annual Report. The major discussion item was the scheduled 5-year rewrite of the Statement on granting privileges to Non-Anesthesiologist Physicians for personally administering or supervising deep sedation that was approved as amended by the Reference Committee and from the Floor. (This official ASA Statement will appear on the webpage shortly after the Annual Meeting).
427-2 Committee on Economics (COE): Annual Report, Supplemental. This report contained a new statement for our members to define the term “immediately available” when “medically directing” under anesthesia services.
605-1 California Society of Anesthesiologists: Annual Report. The resolution after passage, directed the QMDA Committee to begin a new “educational product for deep sedation performed or supervised by non-anesthesiologists”. (A product of similar intent produced by this Committee was not approved at the 2011 Annual Meeting.

529-1 Committee on Regional Anesthesia: Interim Report. Testimony in the reference committee supported the creation of the Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia Education and Clinical Training Portfolio to assist anesthesiologists needing documentation for credentialing at their respective institutions to perform ultrasound guided blocks. The portfolio requires specified CME, documentation of self performed blocks, and passing a written exam. This recommendation passed the HOD.
546-1 Committee on Annual Meeting Oversight (AMOC): Interim Report. There was recognition by the Reference Committee of significant testimony supporting consideration of San Antonio for a future Annual Meeting site.
Finance
675-1 Ad-Hoc Committee on Company Model: Interim Report. Due to concerns and testimony by the members on the gravity and scope of the Company Model’s impact on ASA membership, the work of the Committee was referred to the Committee on Practice Management.
