STIRRING THE ECHOES OF THE TSA PRESIDENCY

Those of you who attended the 2012 TSA Annual Meeting may have witnessed a 10-minute video segment during the House of Delegates. It featured Past Presidents of our organization describing their tenure as the TSA President and emphasizing the importance of being involved in the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

The History Committee has made tremendous progress with interviewing several TSA Past Presidents living in different parts of the State. Those interviews were videotaped and compiled into a 30‐minute movie that was played at the Past Presidents’ Dinner last September. The Committee also seized the opportunity to interview more Past Presidents at the September meeting, which will be added to a future presentations.

The Committee’s agenda is by no means complete. There are still a few TSA Presidents that have yet to be interviewed. Some of them reside outside of our great State. These interviews will require longer range scheduling for an opportune encounter with these individuals.

The History Committee also welcomes any input from TSA members who are NOT part of the History Committee. If you happen to be in possession of any documents, pictures or movie footage from the early days of the TSA, please contact us at info@tsa.org to share your items and their stories. We will make the necessary arrangements to include such materials in our future publications. If you happen to know and interact with retired TSA members involved in the early TSA organization in any capacity, please share their contact information, and we will reach out to them.

Clearly, the main and current goal of the TSA History Committee is to record the interviews of the TSA Past Presidents. Of course that will not be the ONLY goal for the Committee as we delve deeply into TSA history. Please send us your feedback for shaping our agenda so we can “Stir the Echoes of our Great Society” together.
