Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the effect of The Triple Aim: Care, Health, and Cost on anesthesiologists;
  2. Describe the development of preoperative assessment;
  3. Determine the medical and physiological anesthetic implications of obesity;
  4. Review normal pathophysiology that contributes to increased morbidity and mortality;
  5. Discuss hepatic segmental anatomy, physiology and surgical indications and procedures;
  6. Describe patient selection for continuous peripheral nerve blocks for ambulatory surgery;
  7. Describe the importance of diastolic dysfunction as a predictor of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity risk; and
    1. Identify current transfusion practices.
