SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
TSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
May 20, 2023
- Recognized Dr. Henry L. Bethea with a standing ovation for his 47 years of practice and his tremendous contributions to the TSA.
- Accepted Dr. Bethea recommendation of Dr. Allison F. Wells to fill the vacancy of Director for District 6.
- Recognized with applause Dr. G. Ray Callas the newly elected President-Elect of the Texas Medical Association.
- Requested that date options for the 2024 Anesthesiologists Days at the Capitol be selected and sent to the Board of Directors for consideration and approval.
- Requested that the virtual communications budget line be increased by $10,000 to cover the additional fees incurred during session. A request for approval will be sent to the Board with a deadline to respond by Friday, May 26th.
- Announced that Dr. Patrick Y. Giam is running for 1st Vice President of the ASA.
- Charged the Practice Management Committee and key members of the Governmental Affairs and Economics Committees to work together to develop a TSA Scope Toolkit.
- Requested that the chairs of the Bylaws Committee and Resident Component review the TSA and TSARC Bylaws to determine the structure of the TSARC and if applicable present a proposal to establish a Medical Student Component to the TSA House of Delegates in September.
- Approved the minutes of the Board of Directors February 26, 2023 meeting.
- Certified the elections results for the 2023 TSA House of Delegates.
- Approved via email the appointment of Dr. Allison F. Wells as the TSA Director for District 6.
- Approved via email the request to increase the virtual communications budget line by $10,000.
