Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss pharmacologic choice and needle placement techniques for Paravertebral Blocks.
  2. Identify basic normal cardiovascular anatomy on TEE and identify abnormal TEE findings frequently associated with hemodynamic instability.
  3. Describe the options for airway control (nasal, oral, and retromolar intubation) in patients with restricted mouth opening.
  4. Define the impact of massive bleeding protocols in modern trauma setting.
  5. Review the mechanisms and preventive strategies for common and uncommon perioperative complications associated with robotic pelvic surgery.
  6. Recognize common reasons why regional techniques fail, and identify strategies to increase success in regional anesthesia.
  7. Define the goal of optimal pain management, discuss methods to improve pain satisfaction scores and legislative changes that may affect reimbursement for poorly controlled pain.
  8. Describe the methods of pain measurement and the challenges of subjective measures of pain.
